Before buying a single grow bag, spend a day mapping the sun on your terrace — most fruiting vegetables need at least 5–6 hours of direct sun. Use 12x12 inch bags for leafy greens and herbs, 15x15 for chillies and brinjal, and 18x18 or larger for tomatoes.
For first-time terrace gardeners, start with five forgiving choices: chillies, brinjal, tomato, spinach and coriander. Fill bags with a well-draining cocopeat-compost mix (see our potting mix guide), water consistently, and watch drainage holes don't get blocked.
